Welcome to the Elham Valley Model Railway Website.
Visit our news page to see what Elham Valley Model Railway Club does or read about our aims below first.
To see what group members are up to in Lockdown follow the link.
The club is based on the Downs in Kent between Canterbury and Folkestone.
What is the EVMRC? Well it’s a club formed by a small group of people who are interested in railways and model railways in the Elham Valley and elsewhere. The club aims are to:
That sounds serious; but the intention of the club is to enjoy a shared interest in all things railway with a bias towards making models of ‘railways’ in miniature.
The club's members come from the villages in the valley and surrounding area.
What do we do? To please ourselves we make small layouts and visit preserved railways but also we try to give anyone the opportunity to come along to our Public Running Days to run their own models on our model railways.
We have had occasional talks, starting in April 2013, and workshops to develop members’ skills. In 2014 we held a small model railway exhibition centred on members work and stock and repeated that on a larger scale with the last exhibition held in 2016.
The spirit of the model railway club is deliberately relaxed we knew that others have far greater modelling skills and knowledge than we have; but that doesn’t matter, as to us, it is the atmosphere of railways that excites us.
Interested? Have a look at our website to see what we do and if you are interested come along to one of our open events in the Elham Valley. Or come and talk to us about model railways or railways at one of our meetings. To see what's on, visit our activities page.
If you like what you see and would like to join us go to our membership application page.
